Is polyurethane foam better than mudjacking for clay soil?
Foam weighs a fraction of cementitious slurry, so it doesn't add extra load to soil that's already expanding and contracting. On thinner slabs or sites with marginal soil bearing, that matters. Mudjacking still has its place on larger, thicker slabs where the added weight isn't a concern.
Will lifting the slab back up cause new cracks?
Lifting redistributes weight gradually and evenly across injection points, which limits new stress on the slab. Existing cracks won't disappear, but a properly lifted slab shouldn't develop fresh ones from the process itself.
